August 13, 2024 By Haunt News & Press Releases
MichiganHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Wayne Miracle of The Edson Incident, to discuss what's new at The Edson Incident for the 2024 Halloween Season!
What's new at The Edson Incident for 2024? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?
Almost everything is new this year!!! The new theme is "Edson Incident Abyss" While we do change things every year, we open with a new theme ever third year. The Edson is excited this season as we are doing a few things we haven't done before.
What are you most excited about for the 2024 Halloween Season?
Every new theme is exciting and terrifying. We made the Monsters work overtime, and kept the flail flying to keep morale at an all time high! I think the Monsters are excited to torture, I mean integrate the sacrifices, I mean see if the guests like the work they've done.
What differentiates The Edson Incident from other local haunts in Michigan?
We are the only haunt in Michigan on a Navy Destroyer. The Ship is quite an amazing site, and experience on her own!
How long has The Edson Incident been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about The Edson Incident's history?
We are going on year 9! The Edson's history is quite extensive! She is a Vietnam era Forest Sherman Class Navy Destroyer, She severed 30 years before being decommissioned in 1989. She is one of only two of her kind left in existence. The Edson Incident is the largest fund raiser for the ship thanks to all of the great people who come through her....If they make it out that is.
What's your favorite experience since opening The Edson Incident?
There is nothing better than seeing the ones who make it off the ship having a good time!
How long is a typical haunt experience at The Edson Incident from start to finish?
On average its about 20 minutes or so, but we've added a bit of length to it this year so I'm guessing a good half hour.....again, for those who make it out.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say The Edson Incident is? Why?
I think I'm going to let out reviews answer that question.
Does The Edson Incident's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?
There are ghost stories even when she was in service. There are a ton of stories and experiences that have happened on the Edson. I have had a few experiences. One was during the haunt. I was on board the ship in an area by myself. I was peaking out of the porthole to see how the line on shore was doing and the back of my shirt got tugged at shoulder level, right side. You know no one is there, but you still have to check.
What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?
The former President of the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum asked if we would run a haunt to raise money for the ship. Couldn't say no to the Chief. Here we are 9 years later!
How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance The Edson Incident?
Honestly, very little. We are an actor based haunt. We use animatronic sparingly.
Can The Edson Incident accommodate large groups? How many people can experience The Edson Incident together as a group?
Yes we can! We want our sacrifices to enjoy themselves and we let them go through with as many as they chose. If you are a group of two, we aren't going to make you go with anyone else. If you are a group of 10 and want to all be together, we'll let you.
Does The Edson Incident offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?
Military discounts for those with ID, and special events.
Anything else you'd like to let us know about The Edson Incident?
We use virtual queue lines so you don't have to stand in line. We also have regular bathrooms!
