Located on Mackinac Island, essentially an Indian burial ground, the Grand Hotel opened in 1887. At the time of building, human skeletons were unearthed from the foundation. Story has it that not all the remains were recovered before building on top of it so ghostly spirits remain at the site.

I was able to afford one night at the Grand Hotel in 84 so my parents my younger brother family dog Breezy and I hooked up our camper and headed off to the campground in the city and i headed over by the boat to the island and checked into room 200 the minute i walked in i had this feeling of someone was watching me but assumed it was the fact that i was alone all night on the island so after i stayed the night i had that feeling of being watched all night but didn't see anything like apparitions but felt strange being there the next day i packed up and left to go back to the campground telling my parents my experience i seen an apparition when i was three so i had the same feeling i had at the hotel

  • A strange sway

When I entered the lobby my sister and I felt as though we were swaying in a circle. I also felt as though someone or something was grabbing my throat and my heart was beating abnormally fast.

  • Once upon a time...

I once stayed in this “Grand” hotel. It wasn’t so “Grand” when an apparition lifted me 16 inches off of the floor in the middle of the night. I awoke to a sound of heavy moaning coming from the room next door. I thought this was strange so I went and knocked on the door. No one answered. I knocked once more (just for gigs) and holy moly I heard something behind that door moan. Another experience I had was when I ate dinner in their dining room. I was eating alphabet soup alone and I had a sudden urge to use the potty. I got up and used the potty. When I came back the letters in my soup said “EGGS GUY”. I have no idea what this could mean. I’ve spent a days researching “egg guy” but have found no correlation to the paranormal but I still believe it’s true meaning is out there. Overall the place is def haunted.

  • They don't allow ghost hunters

Apparently they have a policy that prevents paranormal investigators from investigating the hotel. Maybe they're afraid of the publicity? I don't know.
